A collaboration with artist Vicky Long, commissioned by Stories of Change and funded by AHRC.
My Friend explores the relationship between people and fossil fuel energy, imagining it as a character named Jules. Drawing on a diverse collection of public writing and a week-long workshop with actors at the National Theatre Studio, Vicky developed a final script which was then brought to life through sound and visuals.
I worked as an animator on the piece, collaborating with Vicky to set the recorded script to visuals. The work has been exhibited as part of Energetic – Exploring the Past, Present & Future of Energy at Museum of Making, Derby Museums & Art Gallery (2017) and the Royal Geographical Society (2018), and features in a book of the same title, published 2018.
